JANUARY 5, 2021: RECREATION FACILITIES CLOSED

From Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht:

Town of Ramapo Recreational Facilities to Temporarily Suspend Use Due to COVID-19

In an effort to protect the public and Town personnel, effective tomorrow, all Town-run and operated recreational facilities will suspend operations until further notice due to COVID-19.

After consulting with Dr. Mary Leahy, chair of the Town’s Community Health and Wellness Commission, and after considering the new highly contagious coronavirus variant, I have decided to temporarily shut down our Town’s recreational facilities, including the Joseph T. St. Lawrence Community, Health & Sports Center and the Town Senior Center. Although we had already been operating on a limited basis and following all CDC and NYS Health Department guidelines, I have decided to err on the side of caution in order to ensure the safety of our staff and residents.

We will reassess the status of our recreational facilities on an ongoing basis and hope to be able to reopen them as soon as it is safe to do so.
